It’s probably no secret that Animal Kingdom is my favorite park. I could spend so much time there because there’s so much to see and do. I have a Disney Bucket List, but I thought it would be fun to put together an Animal Kingdom bucket list! These are all of my top things in this park that I’ve either done or really want to do. If you’re an Animal Kingdom fanatic like me, I’d recommend trying to do as many items on this list as possible!
My Animal Kingdom bucket list:
Eat a meal at Tiffins
Tiffins is hands down my favorite restaurant in Animal Kingdom, and quite possibly all of Disney World. Yes, as a signature restaurant it can be pricey, but it’s totally worth it at least once. Consider going for lunch, where they have a special and more affordable lunch menu.
Nighttime Safari
Now that Animal Kingdom has later hours, you need to make sure you ride Kilimanjaro Safaris at night! There are different animals out in the evening hours, such as hyenas, and often the animals are more active because it’s cooler.
Wild Africa Trek
One of the coolest backstage tours and experiences I’ve done. I would love to do it again someday!
Become a Wilderness Explorer
It might be aimed at kids, but anyone can do it – and you’ll learn a lot! Visit the Wilderness Explorers stand to learn all about this fun and free interactive program throughout Animal Kingdom.
Caring for Giants
This backstage tour is an hour long and won’t take too much time or money out of your day, but it’s a great chance to learn more about the elephants and have some fantastic photo ops.
Swotu Wayä Na’vi Drum Ceremony in Pandora
For some truly unique entertainment, check out the drum ceremony performed in Pandora.
Drink a Rum Blossom in Pandora
This frozen drink is delicious – and if you don’t do alcohol, there is a non-alcoholic version called the Night Blossom.
Explore Rafiki’s Planet Watch
Disney recently announced that this area will only be open “seasonally,” but if it happens to be open I recommend checking it out. You can learn a lot about conservation and you may even have the chance to see some of the vets working with live animals.
Walk all of the trails
They might not seem like big ticket “attractions,” but the trails have tons of animals to observe. I can spend hours on the Maharajah Jungle Trek, Gorilla Falls Exploration trail, and the Discovery Island trails.
Purchase a souvenir – and make a donation to the Disney Conservation Fund
When you buy something at Animal Kingdom you also have the chance to donate an extra dollar or two to the Disney Conservation Fund, which works to help the environment and endangered animals.
Watch Rivers of Light
While not everyone is in love with it, I think Rivers of Light is beautiful and I enjoy the show when I watch it. If you are a lover of Animal Kingdom I think you are more likely the appreciate the beauty and message of the show.
Attend the Rivers of Light dessert party
This is brand new, but they are now offering a Rivers of Light dessert party! I’ve tried the parties at the other three parks, so this one will have to be soon.
Meet Tarzan
There are lots of cool characters to meet in Animal Kingdom, but Tarzan is one of my favorites!
Pick up a treat at Zuri’s Sweet Shop
Stop in for some animal inspired cake pops, caramel apples, cupcakes, fudge, and more!
Identify at least 5 animals on the safari
I love learning all about the different animals, so I make a point to try and identify the animals on the safari myself – either with the guide posted, or just from my head now that I’ve been on it so many times!
Grab a drink at the Dawa Bar
Or Nomad Lounge, or the Thirsty River Bar… there are lots of fun and unique drinks at Animal Kingdom, so maybe try all three locations!
Get a Dole Whip with Rum
Dole Whip lovers can get their favorite treat with either dark rum or coconut rum at Tamu Tamu Refreshments.
Savor the Savanna: Evening Safari Experience
This private, separately ticketed event includes a private tour of the savanna and an African inspired meal.
Character breakfast at Tusker House
Meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in their safari outfits – and enjoy some delicious food as well! You can also get lunch or dinner here.
Dance to Burudika
Have you heard that band playing in Africa but you walk right by it to get to the safari? Stop and enjoy some songs and dance to the music! I enjoy their performances so much I bought their CD.
Customize a bowl at Satu’li Canteen
For a truly delicious lunch with lots of customizable options, create one of the bowls at Satu’li Canteen. My personal favorite is the base of sweet potatoes and red potatoes with beef and the chimichurri sauce.
Tree of Life Awakenings
This new nighttime show projected onto the Tree of Life may not be anything showy, but it’s really cool to watch and I always try to take a few minutes to do so.
What’s on your Animal Kingdom bucket list? How many of these things have you done?
