Welcome to fall! It finally feels a little cooler here in Pennsylvania, though I’m not sure the same can be said for Florida.  Plenty is going on in the world of Disney right now, with some big announcements about Disney Cruise Line, lots of theme park fun, and new movies coming out in November and December.

Disney News

  • Lots of adorable merchandise at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival this year – I look forward to shopping in November!
  • Kids love Vampirina? You can catch her at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party on both coasts.
  • The VOID, a virtual reality experience in Disney Springs, currently features a Star Wars experience. Coming soon will be a new Wreck-It Ralph VR experience!
  • Tea Lovers may want to check out the Rose and Crown Tea Experience now being offered at Epcot.
  • I’ve mentioned it as a rumor on this blog several times in the past, but it’s finally official: Illuminations will be ending in mid-2019, to be replaced by a not-yet-announced nighttime spectacular.
  • Over at Animal Kingdom there is a new backstage tour experience where you can get up close with the rhinos – I loved Caring for Giants with the elephants so I’m excited about this one too!
  • Some live entertainment has been cut at Disney in several places, including the live actors in Rivers of Light and some of the Citizens of Hollywood in Hollywood Studios.
  • The Epcot Flower and Garden festival will run in 2019 from March 6 – June 3.
  • Hollywood Studios will see more Pixar in 2019, including an Incredibles Dance party, meet and greets with Mike and Sulley, and and a new game with Jack-Jack.
  • Animal Kingdom celebrates the Lion King in 2019 with a Hakuna Matata dance party and fun photo opps.
  • Disney is changing the way they price tickets starting on October 16th – I’ll be putting together a blog post with the details and FAQs, but the biggest thing to know is that they’ll be switching to ticket prices based on the dates you’re traveling.
  • New details on the Millennium Falcon ride coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge were released!

Disney Rumors

Animal Kingdom  //  Lots of information has been flying about the fate of Rafiki’s Planet Watch, but here is the most recent of what I’ve heard: it will be closing later this month, but will set to reopen sometime in Spring 2019.

Disney Cruise Lines  //  With three new ships being built in the coming years, rumor has it that one of the ships will have a permanent home in New York – especially now that Disney has extended their berthing contract with the port of New York through 2022.

Hollywood Studios  //  It seems that Pizzerizzo might be going seasonal, which probably doesn’t bode well for its future. Surprising, since it only opened about two years ago.

Other Disney Blogs

If you’re planning for the Food and Wine Festival, I highly recommend the reviews by Josh at Easy WDW – very thorough and honest with lots of great photos.

Tom at the Disney Tourist Blog has a nice review of the new Prix Fixe menu at Be Our Guest – makes me even more excited for my reservation there next February!

I appreciated this review from Castle Party Blog of one of the beverage seminars at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival, since I’ve never heard much about them!

Over at Kait around the Kingdom, Kait and Nick put together the most perfect Halloween costumes as Ken and Barbie from Toy Story 3!

Book lovers: Laura at Literacious is creating book lists inspired by traits of the Disney Princesses – so if you admire Ariel’s curiosity, you might enjoy these titles with similar heroines.
